OPERA
SEASON 2004-2005
The cast, season tickets, tickets,
reductions
In just two editions the Opera Season at
the Muse Theatre in Ancona has reached well beyond the regional borders, thanks
to the quality and original artistic proposal it has won the trust of the
public and the season ticket holders, 394 in the opening season, reached 775
for the second edition. We are now at the third.
The 2004-2005 Opera
Season at the Muse Theatre has been programmed around
operas that not very frequently or rarely are performed together with other
more frequently performed operas, but which are very interesting in view of the
way they will be interpreted.
The season will be opened
with a very rarely performed opera, The Flood by Igor Stravinsky
matched with one of the most fascinating titles of 20th century
repertoire L’Enfant et les Sortilèges by Maurice Ravel.
The two works will be
directed by a specialist in 20th century repertoire, Yoram David, with a
singing company with a well-known soloist, Laura Polverelli, who will debut in
Ravel’s leading role, alongside younger singers or other more experienced, like
Ruth Rosique, Gabriella Sborgi, Jean Delescluse, George Mosley, Lorna Windsor,
Laura Brioli and Roberto Abbondanza. New scenography in co-production with the
Verona Arena, directed by Daniele Abbado, scenery by Graziano Gregori, costumes
by Carla Teti.
The second title is Norma
by Vincenzo Bellini. An essential opera in 19th century Italian repertoire,
among the most difficult and feared when choosing the leading roles.
Fiorenza Cedolins will play
the leading role, one of the greatest interpreters with her beautiful warm and
full voice, clear diction, amazing extension and technique ((not by chance she
won the Abbiati Award in 2002 as the best soprano), along with Vincenzo La
Scola (Pollione), who also won the Abbiati Award in 2002, and with Carmela
Remigio (Adalgisa), Andrea Papi (Oroveso).
“We decided to take the
role of Adalgisa to the position of second soprano as Bellini had originally
intended” Maestro Alessio
Vlad, Artistic Director of the Opera Season declared.
It will be conducted by Bruno
Bartoletti, winner of the Abbiati Award as best conductor in 2004, and this
will be his first time, with Yoram David, with the Marchigiana Philharmonic
Orchestra. Direction, scenery and costumes by Hugo De Ana for a
neoclassic layout purchased in Japan by the Muse Theatre in Ancona and Verona
Arena foundations.
“For the third title, La
Bohème” by Giacomo Puccini, - Maestro Vlad continued – which is among
the best loved, we have two singing companies which will be alternated with two
performances each: in the leading roles singers like Carmela Remigio who will
alternate in the role of Mimì with Alexia Voulgaridou, Yasu Nakajima,
Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi and Luca Grassi. We should also mention the debut in
the role of Colline by Andrea Concetti, a singer from the Marche, who is
rising fast”.
Conductor Paolo Arrivabeni. Directed by Lamberto Puggelli, scenery by the Teatro
Massimo Bellini in Catania with scenes and costumes by Pierluigi Samaritani, a
scenographer with a very romantic and decadent style, pupil of Lila De Nobili
who worked with Luchino Visconti on the historic scenery for La Traviata
and Manon Lescaut.
All the productions will be performed by the Marchigiana Philharmonic
Orchestra and the “Vincenzo Bellini” Marchigiano Lyrical Choir, conducted
by M. Carlo Morganti.
Another detail to be
pointed out, as the Foundation Chairman, Fabio Sturani, announced, the
performances for the 2004-2005 Opera Season will begin at 20.30 sharp,
15 minutes earlier than last year while the Sunday performances will
begin at 16.00.
