SHARON ISBIN’S GUITAR AND SALVATORE ACCARDO’S VIOLINtwo long-awaited concerts, the first at the
Sperimentale and the second at Le Muse in a quartet with Giuranna, Filippini
and Petracchi Young,
beautiful, undeniably charming, Sharon Isbin is one of the best
contemporary guitarists and is scheduled to perform live at the Teatro
Sperimentale on 6th December. A few weeks later (20th
December), as part of the same season organised by the Amici della Musica, Le
Muse theatre will host an exceptional string quartet, comprising Salvatore
Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Rocco Filippini and Franco
Petracchi beside five young talented musicians yet to be discovered... Thanks to
her exquisite technique, elegant lyricism and extreme versatility, Sharon Isbin
will once more enchant her audience with a programme that will be particularly
rich in surprises, including the first European performance of
Seven Desires for Guitar composed especially for her by Tan Dun.
An award-winner in the most prestigious international competitions, and creator
of the guitar department at the Juilliard School, Sharon Isbin began her
guitar studies here in Italy, and went on with Andrès Segovia and
Oscar Ghiglia. She has played as a soloist with more than 140 orchestras
the world over, enlarging her guitar repertoire with some of last century’s
best works, commissioning and playing in the first ever performed concertos,
compositions for guitar and chamber music. Many composers have written for her,
from Tower to Diamond, from Eorem to Brouwer and Kernis. American
Landscapes, the first recording of guitar concertos by American
composers (Corigliano, Foss and Schwantner), was taken up into space by the
astronauts of the shuttle Atlantis and was given to the Russian cosmonauts as a
gift during the encounter on the space station Mir. Numerous recordings,
from Baroque to the Spanish/South-American repertoire, to contemporary
compositions and even jazz-fusion, reflect her unique versatility (Find out
more about Sharon Isbin on the following website: www.sharonisbin.com “For our
début at Le Muse, - state the leaders of the Amici della Musica regarding the
programme scheduled for 20th December, - we have chosen a
concert-event, a great music celebration for our town: first-rate maestros,
with artists with a sure future will put together a performance where the most
impertinent and unconventional Mozart of Musikalischer Spass, and
the better known, more elegant Mozart of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
along with Tchaikovsky’s Russian nostalgia of Souvenir de Florence,
a refined recollection of an Italian holiday, will merge beautifully”. The
maestros of the Christmas Concert are obviously Salvatore Accardo, Bruno
Giuranna, Rocco Filippini and Franco Petracchi for a formidable quartet
supported by the young Laura Gorna (violin), Anna Serova (viola),
Riccardo Agosti (violoncello), Luciano Giuliani and Agostino
Accardi (horn). The evening has all the ingredients for indelibly remaining
in the audience’s memory: it features the brightest stars of each instrument,
the programme has the advantage of
being both beautiful and fun and the event will take place in one of the most
sparkling weeks of the year. |
